Welcome,

This website is my ongoing experiment in narcissism.

It has had several reincarnations since 1996 and I use it not only to provide information about myself and my views, but also to learn and experiment with website design.

Take a look around and feel free to contact me for any reason, I am not really a narcissist.

Edward Alfert

Me, Myself, and I

In real life, I am an easy-going introvert; quiet, professional, and diplomatic.

Although I was born in New York City (made in America with Cuban parts), I have also lived in Mexico, Venezuela, New Jersey, Georgia, and now Florida. I have been lucky to have lived in such diverse places and enjoyed each one of them.

As you probably guessed, I am bilingual and really appreciate my parents teaching me Spanish at home to complement the English I learned at school. Being bilingual has been a great asset to my personal and professional life.

My view on work can best be summarized with the following quote.

“Choose a job you love, and you will never work a day in your life.”
- Anonymous

This quote, or a slight variation of, has often been attributed to Confucius, but my online research has not convinced me. Although I do not know whom to credit, this philosophy has served me well. I work in the information technology field and feel blessed to get compensated for doing what I consider a hobby. Do not tell my boss, but I would work for free if I could afford it.

When I have free time, you will rarely find me watching TV since I consider it a waste of time. I prefer being online researching interesting topics, tinkering with computers, playing with different flavors of operating systems, testing new software, improving my programming skills, and trying my hand at website design.
